Cite Sources / Avoid Plagiarism
In most cases, you will be required to add Works Cited pages to your research papers. This Works Cited page is sometimes called a References page or a Bibliography. It lists the resources (books, journal articles, media, websites, etc.) from which you've drawn others' thoughts that you have incorporated into your paper. At NYIT, you'll be asked to format your Works Cited pages according to a specific style, e.g., MLA, APA, Chicago, Turabian, etc. These tools greatly simplify doing so.
These Web-based tools offer fill-in-the-blank solutions for correct citation, footnote and References page formatting. You fill in blanks with author name, book or article title, date of publication, etc., then click a Submit button to see your citation generated in precisely correct style (MLA, APA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.) instantly ready for copying and pasting into your References list. Some tools, e.g., RefWorks, go a step further and place these citations in correct alphabetical order for you.
