Really Simple Syndication (RSS): Job/Intern Feeds

This guide provides an overview of RSS technology, a method of streaming customized information.

Jobs

RSS offers an excellent means of targeting employment listings. Typically, you will peform a search which generates an RSS feed. When monitored this feed will provide new job listings that meet your search criteria. Some websites also provide pre-built RSS job feeds organized by industry.

Here are four popular career websites that support RSS:

  • CareerBuilder: Offers RSS feeds in pre-defined job categories, as well as the ability to create feeds based on unique parameters.
  • Craigslist: After performing a career search scroll to the bottom of the page where an RSS link will appear on the right hand side.
  • Monster: After performing a career search scroll to the bottom of the web page where an RSS feed will appear on the left side.
  • Hotjobs: After performing a career search scroll down and an RSS feed will appear in the left hand margin.
