Please continue reading this entire message as it tells you exactly how to test your instance of OCLC-Hosted EZproxy.
The server for your library is now fully configured and running at https://nyit.idm.oclc.org and it has been set up to work with SAML authentication. (OKTA VERIFY)
While you may complete other testing activities, please perform at least the following steps:
- Before you begin testing, make sure you have contacted your content providers and requested that they add the IP address of your hosted EZproxy server, which is 132.174.234.31. This should NOT replace any existing IP addresses you have on file with that provider.
- Log in at https://nyit.idm.oclc.org using valid SAML credentials for your institution. You should see an internal menu page. Please note: this database menu page will not be seen by your users.
- Once you have logged in at https://nyit.idm.oclc.org, please follow the instructions at the top of the page to construct and test proxy-prefixed URLs for your licensed content. For more details about how to construct these URLs, please see https://help.oclc.org/Library_Management/EZproxy/EZproxy_configuration/Starting_point_URLs_and_config.txt. Please note: The list of links you see on the menu page is not a comprehensive representation of what has been configured on your EZproxy server. The best way to test is by adding your new proxy prefix to the beginning of the e-resource links you currently use.
- After you have confirmed that you can access your resources through EZproxy, update all links to e-resources on your institution’s webpages to use your new proxy prefix. These pages could include but are not limited to A-to-Z lists, LibGuides, 856 links, course management systems, etc. An example of correctly proxy-prefixed URL is as follows:
https://nyit.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com
Now that the server is fully up and running and ready for your testing, billing for OCLC Hosted EZproxy will be processed after 12/22 and an invoice will be sent to you. For billing questions, please contact orders@oclc.org.
Until that date, you may direct your questions, request additional information or ask for assistance by emailing implementation@oclc.org. After that date, your site will be transitioned to OCLC Customer Support, and they will handle all of your requests for assistance with your Hosted EZproxy server.
