NYIT is proud to serve veterans of the U.S. armed forces. We encourage veterans and their dependents to apply for educational benefits to help pay for NYIT tuition and assist with living expenses while enrolled at the university.

The NYIT Student Veterans Organization (SVO) serves as a one-stop-shop for student veterans, addressing their specific academic and co-curricular needs. Run by fellow veterans, the SVO operates out of the Community Service Center and is the central organization for student veteran services and support.

NYIT is proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, a provision of the Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. The program is designed to provide veterans with additional financial assistance for tuition and fees that exceed benefits available under the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

Executive Order 13607, signed April 27, 2012 by the President of the United States, established Principles of Excellence (POE) for educational institutions serving service members, veterans, spouses, and other family members. The 8 Principles of Excellence are described in the Order.
