Open access (OA) resources are digital literature made available online free of charge. Explore scholarly works and research published under the open access model through our suggested resources.

Platforms for Open Access content

There exist many free and open source platforms for making open-access materials available online.  These platforms provide individuals, departments, associations, and institutions with the technical framework to create and publish content online in an open access manner.

Institutional Repository platforms provide a wide range of tools to support the diverse needs of institution-wide open access publishing.   Functionality often includes author uploads, cataloging, document hosting, and archival management.  

Journal publishing platforms, while narrower in scope, provide the tools to create online journals. 

Repository Platforms

Often maintained by larger institutions, open-access repository platforms provide the software needed to collect and archive institution-wide content.

Journal Platforms

Locally installable and managed systems, open access publishing platforms provide the software needed to create and manage open access journals.
