NYIT is proud to serve veterans of the U.S. armed forces. NYIT offers an array of programs and educational benefits to help pay for NYIT tuition and assist with living expenses while enrolled at our university. Learn more.

• GoArmyEd is the virtual gateway for all eligible active duty, National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers to request tuition assistance online, anytime, anywhere for classroom and distance learning.
   
• Post-9/11 GI Bill – If you have at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, and are still on active duty, or if you are an honorably discharged Veteran or were discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days, you may be eligible for this VA-administered program. Purple Heart recipients, regardless of length of service, are qualified for Post-9/11 benefits at the 100% level. Certain members of the Reserves who lost education benefits when REAP was sunset in November 2015, may also be eligible to receive restored benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
  
  For approved programs, the Post-9/11 GI Bill provides up to 36 months of education benefits.
  
  If your release from active duty was before January 1, 2013, there is a 15-year time limitation for use of benefits.  For individuals whose last discharge date is on or after January 1, 2013, the time limitation has been removed.

Many students are able to benefit from our generous financial aid programs and policies, so don't be deterred by the published tuition costs of attending NYIT. The Office of Financial Aid is committed to helping you and your family understand and take advantage of options to offset the cost and comfortably fund your education throughout your college career. We encourage you to educate yourself about the cost of college and resources available to you.

Students can find a plethora of useful federal financial aid information on the Federal Student Aid Twitter webpage (@FAFSA). Information via FSA’s @FAFSA Twitter account provides up-to-date happenings and information regarding federal financial aid. We encourage you to take advantage of this valuable resource.

• Tutorial Assistance – Tutorial assistance is available to help you pay for tutoring necessary to advance your education.
• VA Work Study Program – If you're a full-time or 3/4-time student in a college degree, vocational, or professional program, you can “earn while you learn” with a VA work-study allowance.
• Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
• Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E)
• Reimbursement for admissions and proficiency exams – Students can be reimbursed all required (mandatory) fees charged for national admission tests, national tests for college credit, and national tests that evaluate prior learning and knowledge and provide an opportunity for credit at an institution of higher learning (IHL).
• Reserve Education Assistance – Provides educational assistance to members of the Reserve components called or ordered to active duty.
• Sentinels Bridge for Education –  Helps fill the gaps GI Bill payments do not cover.
• Survivors & Dependents Educational Assistance – Education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits.
• Tuition Assistance Top Up – The Top-up program is only available for recipients of the Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty or Post-9/11 GI Bill programs.
