Vancouver Public Library

Students are strongly encouraged to apply for a free Vancouver Public Library (VPL) card.

Vancouver Public Library subscribes to 1000s of online books, audiobooks, magazine and newspaper articles, indexes, and other recreational and research resources.

There are 2 ways to get a library card:

  • Register Online – Sign up online for a temporary card. Vancouver residents can access our digital collections, ebooks, and place holds on physical items. Confirm your details for a full card next time you visit in person.
  • Visit in Person – To apply for your free library card, bring the necessary identification to any VPL branch

WorldCat

As a researcher the WorldCat database serves two very unique functions:

  1. It identifies whether a subject or idea has been addressed in the form of a book. This can be helpful when submitting ebook purchase recommendations.
  2. It will let you know which libraries (including public) have holdings based on your current location.
