NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) at Arkansas State University's mission is to expand the physician workforce and improve the health of all people in the Delta. As part of this mission, our institution partners with local schools and organizations to inspire young people interested in the health professions and provide the public with quality health information and services. Much of this work is done through the Delta Population Health Institute (DPHI), the institution's public outreach arm, and our pipeline programs.
Beyond supporting these initiatives, the library has been involved in early childhood literacy efforts in local schools and communities. Building upon these past efforts, we are partnering to bring the This Lead is Killing Us: A History of Citizens Fighting Lead Poisoning in Their Communities traveling exhibition to select sites.
We encourage teachers and sponsors to incorporate these materials into their lesson plans and activities.
