CME/MOC Information for Faculty/Preceptors

This guide provides instructions for NYITCOM faculty/preceptors on how to claim CME/MOC credits via the health sciences databases.

You must create an account first.

Your Elsevier credentials work and sync with the following databases/tools: ClinicalKey, Scopus, and Mendeley, a reference manager.

1. Visit the NYITCOM Library website, https://nyit.edu/library/medicine.

2. Click the blue Databases button.

3. Select ClinicalKey. You will be prompted to log in with your NYIT credentials if off campus.

4. Click Register in the upper right-hand corner.

5. Complete the form that appears to create an account. Use your NYIT email.

Now that you've created an account, you can start acquiring and claiming CME/MOC.

1. Make sure that your account name appears at the top of the page. You must be logged in to earn CME/MOC credit.

2. You can begin earning CME/MOC credits by using the website for a clinical query.

3. Submit a clinical search. Select and browse the relevant material(s).

 

You should notice a CME icon at the top of eligible materials. Credit for the clinical query will be added to your potential credit pool.

4. Click your name at the top of the page, and then select CME/MOC to visit your dashboard.

5. Click Claim Credits on the left-hand side of the dashboard.

6. Provide your clinical goals and application (Searched for/Applied use) for each query you want to claim and hit Submit.

7. You will be asked to complete an ClinicalKey POC evaluation to complete the process.

1. You must add your ABIM information to claim MOC credits. Click your name at the top of the page, and then select CME/MOC to visit your dashboard.

2. Select Manage Boards.

3. Input your birth date and ABIM ID number and hit Submit.

4. After successful submission of CME credits, click the Submit these credits for MOC button to start the MOC submission process.
