This guide provides instructions for NYITCOM faculty/preceptors on how to claim CME/MOC credits via the health sciences databases.

Description

This module focuses on trauma care, specifically the evaluation and treatment of closed head injuries and blunt force trauma. Please note that this module focuses on adults, not pediatric patients. Preceptors can acquire CME credits as they complete the module's activities.


**First Action**

Closed Head Injuries

1. Search "Traumatic brain injury" in UpToDate.

2. Review "Traumatic brain injury: Epidemiology, classification, and pathophysiology" in UpToDate.

3. Review "Acute mild traumatic brain injury (concussion) in adults" in UpToDate.

4. Follow the library's instructions on how to claim CME credits in UpToDate.

5. Review Chapter 22: Head Injuries from Current Diagnosis and Treatment: Emergency Medicine, 8e.

6. Follow the library's instructions on how to claim CME credit in AccessEmergency Medicine.

Blunt Trauma

1. Search "Blunt trauma" in UpToDate.

2. Review "Initial evaluation and management of blunt abdominal trauma in adults" in UpToDate.
