April Event: Autism Awareness in the Built Environment

The Art & Architecture Library, and the LI campus student chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects Students (NOMAS), invite you to explore sensory painting and paper folding to consider advances in design affordances and the autism spectrum.

  • Visit us in Education Hall Library to try out Sensory Painting and Paper folding techniques
  • Enjoy light refreshments and activity supplies provided by NOMAs.

5. Dan Miller, Untitled 2010

Dan Miller’s art is a graphic communication made in the moment. His paintings and drawings convey thoughts, recorded and repeatedly overdrawn until the imagery forms a visual cloud with a seemingly audible presence. The abstract, gestural expressions use color, density, and scale to convey the ideas and feelings that Miller, who is on the autism spectrum, is unable to express verbally.
