Located in the Art & Architecture Library, Rm. 101, Education Hall, the Innovation Lab is an experimental creative space. Here, you can find technologies to try in the library or take home.
The lab provides members of the School of Architecture and Design and the larger New York Tech community with hands-on access to innovative technologies supporting the educational and research direction of the institution.
Let this be an introduction to photography, podcasting, GIS and maps, the Vibe board, vinyl cutting and virtual reality. Library staff members are available for consultations. They can help you get started. Previous experience with the equipment is not required, but first-time users will be required to go through a brief orientation before using the equipment.
The Architecture Library Lab continues evolveing as a collaborative makerspace for play and experimentation. The growing Spare Arts program provides a place to donate or borrow extra modelmaking and art supplies. We’re busy brainstorming ideas for other resources and services the Innovation Lab can provide in the future, including a sewing machine, library of board games and puzzles, and DIY repair toolkits. Share your interest and requests for new technologies at askalibrarian[at]nyit.edu.
