Open Data Week 2025 Virtual Conference:

Open Data Week is an annual festival of community-driven events organized and produced by the NYC Open Data Team at the Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI)BetaNYC, and Data Through Design. Sessions of interest for the Built Environment includes, Finding Green Spaces: A Model for Tree Planting in NYC: 11 am - 12 pm EDT RSVP Join our virtual event to discover a cutting-edge tool that pinpoints prime tree planting sites across NYC using NYC Open Data. This model empowers NYC Parks foresters to expand the City’s green canopy more efficiently. The model leverages datasets such as NYC Parks Tree & Site, NYC Planimetrics, DOT Traffic Signs, and the DOH Heat Vulnerability Index to drive site selection. 


Successful Student Staff

Congratulations Savannah Garces,Digital Arts Senior and Architecture Library Student Staff. Savannah has been an intern with the Long Island Library Resources Council. Savannah is one of two interns selected for the LILRC Diversity Internship Program and she began her internship January 2025. Read her recent analysis of The Banjo Player by William Sidney Mount (856), featured in the LILRC newsletter. 

Recognizing Under-Represented Design Reading and Media List. Each month our student staff consider diversity celebrations and conduct bibliographic research on under-represented designers.

Guide Updates


Art & Architecture Library & Collection Hours

  • Education Hall, Rm. 101  Monday - Thursday 8:30 AM - 7pm; Friday 8:30 am - 6 pm 
  • Manhattan Library  9am – 6pm: 2nd fl.; 7am – 11pm: 3rd fl. (not staffed)
  • Salten Hall Library and Reading Room  8am – 6pm: upper level;  6pm – 10pm: lower levels (not staffed)

Research Appointments

Individuals and/or small groups schedule meetings with librarians and learn about resources and searching technique related to their assignments. 

B. Arch and M. Arch/M.S. Graduates:

  •  Visit the online New York Tech Institutional Repository and  deposit a copy of your thesis. Theses documents are preserved long-term alongside New York Tech community scholarship. 
  • We welcome alumni to utilize the New York Tech Libraries resources and borrow books. Write to alumni@nyit.edu and request your alumni library card.
  • Subscribe to the Library Newsletters (4 issues / year) for information on new resources and upcoming library events.
